Wiccan Priestess Speaks About Theocracy
A Wiccan priestess who is also an Ivy League graduate and attorney practicing in New York City, is currently giving speeches about the "growing danger of American theocracy." As a guest on the O'Reilly show in 1999, she felt she was very welcomed. She believes, however, that she wouldn't get the same courtesy in today's climate. What changed, she said, is that the "theocratic right felt empowered" by the election of President George W. Bush and that today religious tolerance is slumping. According to the priestess, in recent years incidents of discrimination against Wiccans and their spiritual cousins, Pagans, have increased in workplaces, schools and child custody cases. She also believes the theocratic right is pressuring bookstores and publishers to stop carrying books on sex and witchcraft in stores. Full Story
