Christian Leaders Remix Halloween Activities

Many Christian church leaders are urging parents to not let their children participate in traditional Halloween celebrations this year, instead repurposing Halloween as a celebration of "good" and "light" and having alternative church parties with that theme. As an example, one pastor in the United Kingdom believes that Halloween festivities can often introduce impressionable children to the world of dangerous beliefs and practices and people should be using October 31 to celebrate goodness and light instead of evil. He is hosting the "Amazing Light Party" at his church on Halloween night. "As a church we take a pretty firm view on Hallowe'en and we think it is dangerous and destructive for children to be involved in trick or treating and dressing up as vampires and ghouls," he said. Full Story Here at Simple Magick, we are left wondering this: If the original pagan celebration of Samhain was created to honor the dead, and later repurposed by Christians as All Hallow's Eve - a day to honor dead Christian saints - why the new spin to adapt Halloween to Christianity? Wasn't that the idea behind All Hallow's Eve?
