Astrology Considered a Scientific Theory

While the debate over Intelligent Design struggles on, a recent court revealed that there's a lot more on trial that ID. Astrology, for example, would be considered a scientific theory if judged by the same criteria used by a well-known advocate of Intelligent Design to justify his claim that ID is science, a landmark US trial heard on Tuesday. Under cross examination, an ID proponent and biochemist at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, admitted his definition of “theory” was so broad it would also include astrology. He believes that scientists use the term theory much more loosely than the strict US National Academy of Sciences definition calls for. If the term was defined as scientists actually use it, he claims, ID and astrology would be considered scientific theories. Full Story
